Senate panel votes against professions in battle over FTC

Article Abstract:

In a vote of 15 to 14 the Senate Appropriations Committee voted to support the continued rule of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over the professions. The American Medical Society is unhappy with this development and continues to lobby against Congressional activities in the area of FTC controls of medical practice.

Economic realities altering profession, medical leaders told

At the American Medical Association's National Leadership Conference in Chicago, physicians were told action must be taken to give direction to health planning that meets the present and future economic needs of medicine and medical care.
