Article Abstract:

A prison liaison nurse based at HM Prison Bedford, Jo Meehan, works with three other nurses and a prison officer to provide mental healthcare to 490 prison inmates, helping them to come to terms with their sentence and facilitate their safe release. She agrees that she enjoys her job very much, while accepting that the prison is a challenging working environment, where precaution needs to be taken while meeting prisoners.

Perceptions of the role of the community psychiatric nurse

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to explore the self-perceived differences between the contributions of community psychiatric nurses and other members of a multidisciplinary community mental health team for older people. Results reveal the need to recognize contributions made by community nurses as autonomous practitioners in multidisciplinary settings.
