Tax cut signed into law ... and here are suggestions for immediate action by MDs

Article Abstract:

The Economic Recovery Tax Act of 1981 promises to benefit physicians. Medical practices will get substantial reductions in tax rates for individual incomes, capital gains tax rates, liberalization of deductions to retirement plans, and revisions in estate and gift tax rules. Actions physicians can use to take advantage of these provisions are presented.

Professional corporations still viable

Article Abstract:

The Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 1982 (TEFRA) has lowered the limits of tax-deductible corporate retirement contributions. By 19 retirement contribution rules will be the same for incorporated and unincorporated physicians. Physicians need to analyze carefully the tax and legal implications of this law when planning their finances.

Tax law to pinch pension plans

Article Abstract:

Congress has changed the distinctions concerning Keogh plans for self-employed and plans for corporate employees. Physicians are advised to consult with their financial advisors on the implications of the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibity Act of 1982.
