Short-term effects of probation programs: an evaluative study
Article Abstract:
Accurately-focused UK probation programs yield relatively better results, including reduced recidivism, in comparison to programs targeting less-defined client groups or goals or those requiring heavy commitment and attendance. An evaluation of a probation agency's programs concluded that the short-term effects of sharply-focused programs for drunk drivers and auto crime offenders were more beneficial than for the agency's Day Center, cognitive training course, or women's therapeutic group.
