Tsunami aid spending draws fire over public health
Article Abstract:
The huge arrival of aid into regions hit by Asian tsunami are missing the opportunity to tackle the long-standing, urgent public health crisis such as tuberculosis, malaria and HIV. Thus the World Health Organization is strengthening its disease surveillance system and is supplying insecticide-impregnated bednets and fogging machines to spray insecticides in the air with an aim to prevent the outbreaks of diarrhea, cholera, measles, malaria and dengue.
