Different factors considered in project selection at public and private R&D institutes
Article Abstract:
A survey of Korean public and private institutes is conducted to determine the different factors considered by R&D professionals in project selection. Results suggest that public R&D institutes give more importance to the diffusion effect factor in selecting a development project. This factor represents technology transfer between the scientific community and industry. On the other hand, private R&D groups consider the market characteristics factors as the most important parameter in choosing a development project.

Investment decisions in Australian manufacturing
Article Abstract:
Intangible benefits play an insignificant role in the investment decisions of Australian manufacturing firms. An interview of managing directors and production managers of Australian manufacturing firms revealed that manufacturing firms' investment decisions related to manufacturing technology are greatly influenced by tangible criteria. Little attention is given with regards to intangible benefits that will arise from investment decisions. Appreciation of intangible benefits arises only after the decision is made.
