Technology and Indian industry: what is liberalization changing?
Article Abstract:
India's industrial and technology policy in the 1960s and in the 1970s was described as too protectionist and inward-looking for the country to fully develop. Although the country undertook a massive dilution of its restrictive policy regime in the 1980s, it was not until serious liberalization was pursued in 1991 that Indian business began to see dramatic improvements in their efficiency, importing technology and in-house R&D. Despite these developments, however, India still needs to pursue a more aggressive reform agenda compared with other countries.

Science and technology innovation
Article Abstract:
Workshop-based and literature-based approaches can be integrated to produce a common approach that would greatly enhance the process of innovation and discovery. The workshop-based approach consists of convincing experts from different disciplines specializing on specific central themes to allow multi-discipline synergies and cross-discipline transfers. Meanwhile, the literature-based approach emphasizes relations between linked, overlapping literatures to get important inputs.
