The relative contributions of foreign technology and domestic inputs to innovation in Chinese manufacturing industries
Article Abstract:
Foreign technology, together with the investments in absorptive capacity, play an integral role in the progression of industries in developing countries. An analysis of 26 Chinese small and medium firms reveals that the most innovative industries are those which consolidate investments in both technology imports and research and development personnel. It is also shown that a negative or positive relationship does not exist between market concentration and industry innovativeness among large-scale enterprises and state-owned firms.

Government regulation and innovation in local telephone services
Article Abstract:
A regulatory policy should not impede the flow of technological innovation. Traditional regulation of local telephone services in the US is analyzed in a model together with an optimal regulatory policy which takes into account emerging economies of new telecommunication technologies. It was concluded that traditional rate-of-return regulation without usage charges discourages potential competition and innovations in the market. A more forward-oriented approach is needed.

An integrated approach to the diffusion of technological innovation: the non-manufacturing advanced robotics field
Article Abstract:
An evaluation model was developed to assess the development of 'embryonic technologies' and evaluate their relevance and economic value to business structures. The application of the model in advanced robotics resulted to higher productivity because of the increase in work rate, improved product quality and better service. It also simplified the operational process and reduced incremental costs by involving more workers in the job.
