Understanding the role of the technical in the build-up of sociotechnical constituencies
Article Abstract:
Technological innovations are products of human ingenuity. The nature and social implications of these innovations were explored. Likewise, the factors influencing the formulation of technological innovations were examined. A direct relationship between the technical and social components of technology development was observed. Despite the different dynamics of the social and technical elements of technology, both were proven to influence the content and direction of innovation and technological development.

Insights into the nature of technology diffusion and implementation: the perspective of sociotechnical alignment
Article Abstract:
A study aimed at examining further the nature of technology diffusion and implementation in the design process of a microprocessor firm was conducted. The study focused on the influence of social behavioral factors in the outcome of the process and attempted to push the systemic treatment of sociotechnical aspects into a unified comprehension of intra-company technology diffusion or implementation. British microprocessor firm Inmos is used as a model of the study.

Sociotechnical systems design principles for computer-aided engineering
Article Abstract:
Computer-aided engineering (CAE) technological integration can be facilitated through the sociotechnical systems (STS) design in implementation. STS works on some general principles dealing with compatibility of the design process, variance control, boundary location, deliberation legitimization and redundancy of functions. The usefulness of CAE will therefore be maximized and the negative consequences of technological change minimized.
