Avery Johnson, Head coach of the Dallas Mavericks
Article Abstract:
Avery Johnson, head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, led the team to the National Basketball Association (NBA) finals in 2006, a level the franchise had never managed to reach since it joined the league for the 1980-1981 season and was named the NBA's coach of the year in April 2006. Johnson reached the 50-mark win faster than any other coach in just a little more than one season and earned the best record for a starting coach in the first 82 games of his career.
