A doleful prospect
Article Abstract:
Economics experts suggest people with few academic skills must be trained to increase their chances of finding work. Unemployment levels for the UK were 8%, in 1998, rising from 2%, in the 1960s. Some observers point out the long-term unemployed, in the UK, receive far worse treatment than those unemployed for a short time resulting in their social exclusion. The introduction of the new employment policies should change people's attitudes to always living on benefits. The Group of 8, industrialized nations, will debate long-term unemployment at its meeting in Birmingham, England.
