David S. Addington, Lawyer and vice-presidential aide
Article Abstract:
David S. Addington, U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, is a leading member of an insular group of senior administration officials directing the U.S.'s controversial counterterrorism measures in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Among the abuses of executive power that Addington is accused of promoting, are the indefinite detention of terror suspects who have no legal recourse, the use of aggressive interrogation methods, and warrantless wiretapping of domestic phones.
