Wilson is an urban sociologist who has won many honors including election to the National Academy of Science. He theorizes that class not race is what impedes the progress of poor Blacks. This theory is strongly criticized by some. Several of Wilson's books and other theories, are discussed.

Giddens, Anthony

British sociologist Anthony Giddens is the director of the London School of Economics aside from being a major intellectual figure in the New Labour Party. Born Jan 18, 1938, Giddens lectured in sociology at the University of Leicester, and taught at the University of Cambridge for 26 years.

Sherry Turkle has studied the personalities people use as they communicate on the Internet and how the computer has influenced communication and society. Her results were published in her 1995 book, 'Life on the Screen: Identity in the Age of the Internet.'
