Jeannine Davis-Kimball, Archaeologist
Article Abstract:
Archaeologist Jeannine Davis-Kimball is well known for providing the most concrete evidence that the myth of the Amazons, the female warriors described in ancient Greek texts, may have some basis in fact. Davis-Kimball worked with the German forensic anthropologist Joachim Burger in 2003 to establish a direct genetic link between one of the warrior women that she had excavated and a nomadic girl living in contemporary Mongolia whose hair was blond, a color unusual among Mongolians.

Fiona Apple, Singer and songwriter
Article Abstract:
Singer/songwriter Fiona Apple was still in her teens and had never performed before a paying audience when she made her first album, 'Tidal', in 1996. Apple went on to receive a great deal of attention, not only because of the universal critical praise that the album earned, but also for the controversial video she made for the single 'Criminal' and her angry, profane acceptance speech at the 1997 MTV Music Video Awards ceremony.
