Kerry A. Emanuel, Meteorologist
Article Abstract:
An eerily accurate description of the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005 appeared in a book titled "Divine Wind: The History and Science of Hurricanes", written by Kerry A. Emanuel and published two months before the storm began to form over the Bahamas. The meteorologist's prescience regarding the events in New Orleans and his comments linking global warming with hurricane intensity made Emanuel a sought-after hurricane expert during and after the tragedy.

Yusuf, Hamza
Article Abstract:
Hamza Yusuf is a prominent American Muslim spiritual leader and lecturer who believes that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent. According to him a widespread lack of religions knowledge and understanding among the Muslims has led to narrow readings of texts used to justify extremism and thus the primary aim of Zaytuna Institute, co-founded by him, is to take a holistic approach to Islam that values the pursuit of knowledge over the strict interpretation of texts.
