Roy Williams was the men's college basketball coach of the University of Kansas Jayhawks where he served for 15 years during which time he built the team into a perennial contender for the National Collegiate Athletic Association championship. A strict disciplinarian known for the admiration, loyalty and sense of team spirit he inspires in his players, he has taken over as coach of the University of North Carolina basketball team since 2003.

Shani Davis, Speed skater

Shani Davis, an American speed skater, became the first African American in the history of Winter Olympics to win an individual gold medal in the 1,000m event at 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. Davis chose speed skating as his sport even though African Americans are known for their liking of basketball and athletics and was criticized for the same in his early childhood.
