A philatelic coup d'etat: Australia Post takes over Christmas Island
Article Abstract:
The Australian postal service will assume responsibility for Christmas Island postal and philatelic services Mar 2, 1993. The move is the result of an Australian government determination that the Australian Postal Corporation Act of 1989 applied to the country's territories in the Indian Ocean.

Ignacy Jan Paderewski: pianist and statesman
Article Abstract:
Paderewski, the pianist and composer was born in present-day Ukraine in 1860. He lived in the US and fought for a free Poland right through WW II. He is buried in Arlington Cemetery. Poland has issued several stamps to his honor, and the US has honored him in the Champions of Liberty series.

Paderewski philatelic autographs
Article Abstract:
Polish pianist Ignace Jan Paderewski signed the back of at least one block of stamps issued by Poland in his honor. Other commemorative stamps, sheets, and covers were issued in honor of Paderewski.
