A well-traveled Roessler cover
Article Abstract:
Stamp dealer AC Roessler of NJ, got the cover from the Falkland Islands Oct 29, 1928. It was flown by the photographer/aviator Sir Hubert Wilkins. Remailed from NYC via London, it reached a Wilkins Arctic expedition. Wilkins' exploits, Falkland history, and the killing of Antarctic animals, are discussed.

Letter tells of visit to Juan Fernandez Island
Article Abstract:
Little is know aboaut the postal history of Juan Fernandez Island, which is in the Galapagos. Alexander Selkirk in 1704 was marooned there and became the prototype for the hero in Robinson Crusoe. A 1871 letter and envelope from the Island is discussed as well as stamps issued by Chile.

Cover tells tale of Galapagos Island barrel mail
Article Abstract:
A barrel was set on Charles Island in the Galapagos Island chain in the early 1800s to handle the mail of sailors who stopped at the island. The original barrel was replaced in 1928, and sailors continue to carve the image of their ship in the barrel.
