An easy technique to dress up your model; create rivets and panel lines with MonoKote

Article Abstract:

A technique to simulate rivets and panel lines to model airplanes is presented. The rivets are simulated by laying a desired spacing, cutting a MonoKote with rivet holes and ironing a panel with the rivet holes. The panels are created by cutting and ironing panels with various shades.

A modeling knife with number 11 blades, a metal straightedge and a ruler with 1/64-inch markings are needed to make panel lines with iron-on film. Scale realism is achieved using panel line colors that are a variation of the background.
