Jim Scott is the great-grandson of the founder of the Red Rose Quartz mine. He is planning to open the mine, which is located on a 50 ft. wide, 75 ft. high rose quartz vein spanning 1,200 miles across a granite mountain in South Dakota, to the public.

Article Abstract:

The Opal Hill mine in Phoenix, AR is famous for its agate deposits. The agates found there are brown with green and red pockets. When polished, the stone becomes iridescent red and are referred to as fire agates.

Jewelry designer Rob Greene takes his cue from the gems that fascinate him

Rob Greene was led to jewelry design by his early fascination with rocks found in a quarry near his childhood home. Greene began making jewelry in college and has continued his love of stones, especially opal.
