The US Postal Service will issue four 29-cent stamps depicting famous children's storybook characters on Oct 23, 1993, in Louisville, KY, as part of the Literacy Volunteers of America Inc conference. Books include 'Huckleberry Finn' and 'Little Women.'

African violets blossom on mail in October

The US Postal Service will issue a new 29-cent stamp depicting an African violet on Oct 8, 1993, at the African Violet Society of America's annual meeting in Beaumont, TX. The stamps will be available in books of 10 or 20.
