Fruits and nuts on stamps

Many third world countries issue postage stamps with pictures of fruit and nuts on them because of their importance as main staples and exports. The US and Europe also have stamps with less exotic fruits and nuts, such as peanuts and apples. Stamps from various countries are described.

Country music stamps debut at Grand Ole Opry

A celebration of the issuing of new set of 29-cent postage stamps honoring country musicians will take place on Sept 25, 1993, at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN. The stamps feature Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, the Carter family and Bob Wills, and will go on sale Sept 26, 1993.

Deaf communication highlighted on new stamps

The Postal Service will issue two commemorative 29-cent stamps honoring sign language and deaf communication on Sep 20, 1993, at a ceremony in Burbank, CA. Actress Marlee Matlin will help dedicate the stamps on their first day of issue.
