Cover tells tale of Texas prisoners in Florida

The 1843-dated envelop was self-folded and addressed to Gen Waddy Thompson with a notation that it was on behalf of two Texas prisoners. The researcher was able to trace one of the prisoners, Sam Walker. An account of his life as a brutal Texas ranger and fighter in the Mexican War was described.

"Message in a bottle" is unique postal history

Leper colony mail underwent purification procedure
Article Abstract:
A stamp collector describes a cover from Kalaupapa on Molokai, HI, which was a leper colony. Letters from there were fumigated to rid them of infectious bacillus. Stamps were also issued to commemorate Father Damien, a Belgian priest who worked with lepers there all alone.
