Do pros use slide film because it's better than print film?

Many professional photographers use slide film rather than print film because the range of values of color-print film is limited by color-print paper and because photo editors prefer slides. Digital imaging is one way to overcome the limitations of print film.

The new Kodak Ektachrome Lumiere and Elite color slide films do not measure up entirely to the manufacturer's claims of improved speed-to-grain ratio. In terms of skin tones, the Lumiere 100X is better than the Fujichrome Velvia 50 and Kodachrome 64.

How to choose between slide & print film

Article Abstract:

Color-slide film is the best choice for making slides, for stock photography and for selling photos to magazines. Print film is less expensive for paper printing and offers better color saturation and wider exposure latitude.
