True North Inc., small Canadian company, which found emerald rough in CanadaEs Yukon Territory, has a team of geologists, who discuss the problem of not having any systematic basis of predicting where emeralds will form. True North faces the issue that has bothered every publicly traded company that has gotten involved in gem mining and that is 'marketing'.

Cleopatra's Mines which is 700 km. southeast of Cairo, Egypt are among the oldest emerald mines. Research showed that despite of the mines' phenomenal history only a few Egyptian emeralds were found and majority of these are could closely match recent gem quality.
