French dealers take advantage of strong franc

THe event of the American Stamp Dealers Assn show in New York City, Apr 1995, brought French stamp dealers to the US. The impression made by the apparent arrogance of the Parisians confounded the Americans. The attitude of the French at the show is discussed and the show is evaluated in general.

Article Abstract:
Fraud against stamp dealers does exist. A specific case is cited in which a dealer is cheated when a collector failes to pay for stamps received. Getting no help from the authorities, the dealer decided to warn others of the danger of fraud, by writing an article for a trade journal.

Dealing via mail brings occasional dilemma
Article Abstract:
Stamp dealers who buy and sell through the mail have an unspoken oath to deal fairly with each other. Dealing through the mail is risky because it does not allow both parties to discuss valuation of the material exchanged.
