Article Abstract:

Mineral collectors from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and farther areas, gather each year for the Open House at Eastern Industries' Winfield quarry. The quarry is huge, rectangular and cuts 80 to 150 feet down into the Old Port, Keyser, and Tonoloway Formations of Silurian and Devonian age.

Turning over an old leaf

Article Abstract:

Ralston, PN, provides an abundance of fossil leaves. Most of the specimens which can be found are seed ferns of the genus Neuropteris. Seed ferns dominated in Pennsylvania about 325 million years ago which explains their predominance today.

Clanton Canyon geodes. (Clanton Canyon, New Mexico)_

Article Abstract:

Clanton Draw in New Mexico serves as a fine area for geode collection. The geodes may be collected in areas where erosion has exposed the north face of the Draw. A description of the geodes found in the area is provided.
