John Reed's potato patch

Conrad Reed's discovery of a gold nugget in his father's creek led to the opening of the John Reed potato patch. After two centuries, the mine, which has been preserved by its last owners, has been opened to the public. Visitors pay $3 a day to be able to pan in a specific area.

Rise and fall of the Vulture mine
Article Abstract:
The 130-year-old Vulture mine in Wickenburg, AZ, badly needs repair and restoration, with many of its old buildings still erect but close to collapsing. Howevr, no funds are available for such an undertaking.
