Lines of inquiry
Article Abstract:
The ancient technique of decorating agate and carnelian beads with white lines has puzzled many archaeologists. The lines were found to be blended into the gem, not etched as was previously thought. It was surmised that the Pre-Aryan people of India, where most of these works have originated must have learned the principle of melting quartz and blended in their artistic white lines.
