New Zealand commemorates horse racing
Article Abstract:
Six of New Zealand's famous race horses are featured on the country's first stamp issue for 1996. The careers of the six horses, including Kiwi, Rough Habit, and Blossom Lady, are discussed. The stamps are being marketed by the New Zealand Post Office with a souvenir booklet and special first day cover.

The four men honored by the Feb 22, 1996 stamp issue are Ottmar Mergenthaler inventer of the linotype machine, Eadweard Muybridge creator of stop-motion photography, Frederic Ives, inventor of half-toning, and William Dickerson, inventor of a motion picture projector prototype.
