No simple upgrade: the new slide films bear the Ektachrome Elite name: what they are is something else!

Article Abstract:

Kodak replaced its old Elite series of slide film with the new Elite II series and only the name is the same. New advances in emulsion technology make the difference. The four film speeds were tested and results compared. Factors compared included coloration for skin tones of whites and blacks.

Can Kodak's two new jazzy-colored Ektachromes stop pros from switching to brightly hued Fuji, Agfa, or Konica slide films? Here's how they compare

Article Abstract:

Kodak's new E100S and S100SW professional color slide films were tested against Agfachrome RSX 100, Fujichrome Provia 100, Fujichrome Velvia, and Konica Chrome R-100, all of which are popular with pros. Agfachrome RSX was the best for skin tones, but the E100SW was the best overall choice.

Our persnickety panel of editors praise and pan your pictures

Article Abstract:

A photograph of a sunrise placed too much emphasis on the surrounding subject matter rather than on the sun. Photographs of children have to be interesting to other viewers and not only to the parents of the subjects. A variety of people photos should be taken to insure getting one right.
