Article Abstract:
The Pavilion angles are too shallow for most materials and may require some math or 2 keystrokes in GemCad to tangent ratio the pavilion to the appropriate critical angle for the material chosen by the artist. Progressive sequencing of the steps for easier faceting by artists who have started to investigate shapes other than round are discussed giving technical details.

Utilizing referenced freeform preform

Referenced Freeform Pattern is a freeform way of shaping girdle outlines, using center angle reference points then one reference point to equalize the girdle. The method not only allows flexibility when shaping at 90 degrees but also conserves material.
