Rene Caille was a 17th-century explorer who was the first European to return from Timbuktu, and appears on 1992 Ugandan postage stamps. His unique ability to blend in with the Muslims enabled him to explore Northern Africa with little danger, other than the sicknesses which befell him.

Juan De La Cosa

Juan de la Cosa was a Spanish explorer and cartographer of North and South America credited with supplying Europe with the first map of the New World. He sailed with Columbus and Amerigo Vespucci and shared their prestige as explorers. He is depicted on a 1992 St. Lucia stamp.
