Article Abstract:
Carver Steve Stegall's works include carvings on gemstones and on fossil walrus ivory mainly from the Bering Sea. His works incorporate some of the ivory's natural texture. They could be mistaken for ancient museum pieces, if not for the 20th-century art influence, particularly in their sculptural bases.

Marjorie Post's Hillwood Museum houses the largest collection of Russian art and Faberge creations. The museum contains countless gems, icons, carvings and gilt that were relics of Russian royalty. Today, Hillwood is an independent museum and a repository of precious antique gem carvings.

Skye is a Chicago, IL-based sculptor whose works reflect her affinity for music, motion and dance. Her works are also reminiscent of Native American art, an influence she acquired while living with Plains people in California.
