Solder

Two or more pieces of metal are joined together with a metal alloy through soldering, one of the most basic metalworking processes. Solder is a nonferrous metal alloy which comes in several forms, including sheet, wire, pallions and paste, the choice of which depends on training and personal use. It is usually made of the same metal being joined, such as gold, silver, copper or brass.

The heat is on

Jewelers nowadays use a torch as a source of heat when they are doing soldering work. The torch can maintain the same soldering temperature over the entire piece especially if they are made of silver or gold.
