Article Abstract:
The communications industry of Canada is now worth US$9 bil and is a vital part of the IT sector. Opportunities for strategic and other alliances with Asian manufacturers are many; they can give access to the 360 mil customers in the largest free trade zone of the world. That free trade zone is NAFTA, and it has US$70 bil in annual spending on hardware. Some Canadian companies are trying to get direct investment from abroad. Some groups in Canada have lots of cash and are looking for outlets for investment. The annual equipment exhibition in Toronto, Canada, in 9/97 showed what the telecom sector of Canada has to offer.

Growth of duck bills
Article Abstract:
A new study uses growth curve analysis to measure the growth of bills in Pekin, Mallard and Muscovy ducks. The study shows that the bill is well developed at hatching, with bill width and length showing early signs of inflection. Bill length at hatching is less developed than bill width. It is shown that bill measurements are inaccurate indicators of age in ducks, with bill growth closely linked to overall skull growth, itself influenced by brain growth.
