The lost colony of Roanoke
Article Abstract:
English explorers discovered and colonized Roanoke Island in what is now North Carolina in the 16th century, but abandoned the island to fight against the Spanish Armada in England. When they returned, the colonists mysteriously disappeared. Two US stamps were issued to commemorate this.

Cricket - a game alien to most North Americans
Article Abstract:
Stamps from all over the world portray the game of cricket. Most of these are from Guyana and other British Commonwealth countries. New Caledonia, however, has also issued a cricket stamp in Nov 25, 1987.
