Article Abstract:

There is politics involved with choosing who will be honored on a commemorative stamp. Many heavily requested subjects never make it as honorees. Niagara Falls has never been honored, and Elvis Presley was honored but not Catherine Lee Bates composer of the beloved song 'America.'

Uncle Sam's orphan stamps

Article Abstract:

Special delivery stamps issued by the post office cannot be used to send mail because of international regulations. The US previously recognized discontinued stamps for sending regular mail. The efforts to change that policy are described.
