Zone raiders
Article Abstract:
Virgin Interactive's $44.95-$54.95 Zone Raiders action game features adequate sounds and graphics. As a Doom clone, its story line is nothing exceptiona, yet it is somehow addicting. Cast as a Raider in the Wastelands, the player uses four decked-out classic cars with hoverplates to skim over the roadways scavenging for resources under strict scrutiny and opposition from the Emergency Containment Organization nemesis. Winning requires surviving passage through 16 highway systems. Players begin with a basic laser gun that is upgradeable as the game advances. Each level is limited by time, which adds to the game's action. The game can be played from a driver's view or a chase-car view. A simple dashboard interface tells the player the status of the vehicle and all weapons. The game's graphics convey a sense of raw speed but are far from exceptional, as is the musical score. On the positive side, the play mechanics and simple controls make for fantastic game play.

Bad Mojo
Article Abstract:
Pulse Entertainment's $54.95 Bad Mojo is a unique and absorbing adventure game that allows the player to take on the role of a man whose soul has been transferred into the body of a cockroach. The objective is to discover clues to the past by analyzing the surroundings, which include old newspapers, trash and letters. Players must also contend with the daily pitfalls of a cockroach's life, such as traps, spoiled food, vacuum cleaners, hungry rats and hazardous waste. Solving clever puzzles and manipulating vital objects help move the player through the game. Bad Mojo is extremely easy to play and the graphics are excellent. There are more than 700 navigable screens and an eerie soundtrack adds to the experience. The only negative aspect of Bad Mojo is that it may be too simple for experienced adventure gamers who are looking for more complex puzzles and more control options.
