Driving a pipe into the ground to reach the aquifer can be done manually if the soil is first softened. If this is done a week before the pipe is installed, it allows the aquifer to fill with more water. It is important that the pipe is located away from sewer lines and chemical storage tanks.

A dry well for drainage
Article Abstract:
A simple dry well can provide excellent drainage after heavy rains or during spring thaw. Tips on constructing such a well include determining appropriate depth for the conditions at hand, keeping the sides vertical, and laying a PVC drainpipe below the soil.
