The Old Farmer's Almanac uses a secret formula to predict the weather, but admits that it is not totally accurate in its predictions. The forecast for 1997 is for a mild winter in most of the country, with heavy snow predicted for the eastern and central US.

The 'Juliun' calendar which Pope Gregory XIII revised into a 'Gregorian' calendar became one of the long-lived advertising tool. The calendar became useful to hunters and farmers in determining the proper time for all their activities.
