An intern project helps shape River Farm's future
Article Abstract:
An account of a graduate student's internship program at the American Horticultural Society's River Farm headquarters is presented, where she conducted detailed surveys of the grounds for a proposed new Master Plan for River Farm. The project led to a post-graduate program and the development of a conceptual plan for the Liberty Hyde Bailey Walk, which is one of the most important aspects of the River Farm Master Plan.

The reasons for the botanical gardens or arboretums deserving broad support from people are described. These gardens are very precious resources for the plant lovers and they survive solely on the support of individuals for their own existence, as it is very expensive to maintain them.

Study challenges watering practices

Research revealed that watering containerized plants in the early afternoon is a better strategy. It is also concluded that excessive heat results in less growth.
