Saving the past for the future

Seed preservation contributes to worldwide biodiversity and maintains a region's agricultural history. Many plant, flower and vegetable varieties are disappearing as farmland is sold off for commercial development. The preservation project is also used as an educational tool to teach students horticulture, geography and history.

Article Abstract:
The builder must note when the most sun hits a potential site before building a greenhouse. This site must be cleared of trees or structures that will cast shadows. Tips are given on constructing the foundation for the greenhouse. Concrete blocks are to use simpler than a poured foundation.

Master gardeners provide free-of-charge horticulture advice to garden enthusiasts, work as volunteer research scientists and teach children to appreciate gardening. The volunteer gardeners are active in 44 states and four Canadian provinces.
