Art Nouveau 1890-1914

Article Abstract:

An exhibition of works of Art Nouveau, which runs until the end of January 2001 at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., is discussed. The movement was considered extremely modern at the end of the nineteenth century and was based on decoration rather than utility.

20th-century perfume bottles

Article Abstract:

Beauty, rarity and their historical significance have made perfume bottles one of the most popular collectibles. The evolution of stylish and highly decorative perfume containers was credited to Rene Lalique, whose famous works include demi-crystal bottles with stopper.

Chintz: the new black
