Article Abstract:
Very rare antique toys brought in many high prices at auction in 1992, but middle-range toys did not fare as well. A list of notable auction prices is given. Records were set for toys, dolls and games, including an original hand-made Monopoly which sold for $71,500.

Ives toys make happy boys
Article Abstract:
Ives Manufacturing Co toys were made during the late 19th century. The plant was destroyed in a fire in 1900. These items are now popular collectors items. This excerpt from 'Made in the Ives Shops' by Gerard Robinson discusses toy trains and cars.

Toys: the good and the bad

The US toy industry, especially in the late 19th century, often made products that contained racial and ethnic stereotypes. Games that ridiculed African and Native Americans, often using them as targets, have only recently been phased out.
