Ben Seibel, the ceramic artist born in Newark, NJ, in 1918, is the designer of the Mikasa dinnerware. Although Mikasa is a Japanese ceramic manufacturing firm, its dinnerwares belong to the category of American dinnerware due to its shapes created by Seibel.
