Boxwood: little-known cultivars of this classic make it a versatile choice for any landscape
Article Abstract:
Boxwood is valued for its versatility in sprucing up gardens. In addition to its traditional use as hedges and borders, boxwood can also be used in container gardening, and as topiary and bonsai. Although there are several hundred species of boxwood, the plant is often criticized for its uniform look. Recommended cultivars include Suffruticosa, Arborescens, Graham Blandy, Pendula, Vardar Valley, Justin Brouwers, Elegantissima, Compacta, Green Pillow, Grace Hendrick Phillips, Morris Midget, and Green Mountain.

Classic composition
Article Abstract:
The author has converted his new one-acre property into a showcase garden exemplifying his passions for color and excitement and his zest for variety. The northwest Denver climate is ideal for many plants, and such features as a sunken garden and varied sunny and shaded zones permit even plants from other climates to thrive there. Work on the garden began immediately after he moved in, and it took a strong, geometric shape influenced by the formal appearance of the central house.
