Buzz bombs that bite: it takes mighty quick hands to swat horseflies and deerflies on the attack in summer
Article Abstract:
The family of flies called the tabinids include horseflies, deerflies and hundreds of other species. They are equiped with mouth parts that bite and also have anticlotting saliva. The biting behavior of stable flies and other fly pests are described. Prevention where possible is also suggested.

There are 115 species of snakes in North America, but only 24 of them are venomous. Garter snakes are the most common garden invaders, especially where there are marigolds or compost heaps. All snakes will bite but only if they are provoked.
