Changing Hands: Art without reservation
Article Abstract:
The simple wall captions in the exhibition 'Changing Hands', held at the Museum of Arts & Design, depict that the curators and 184 artists want the marvelous objects (masks) in this exhibition to be appreciated purely as contemporary art. A close reading of the catalog proves that connections with traditional materials and techniques, tribal mythology and ritual objects are key to a deep understanding of the majority of the pieces.
