Czech glass 1945-1980: Design in an age of adversity
Article Abstract:
Czech Glass, 1945-1980: Design in an Age of Adversity, written by an international team of scholars and curators who have investigated in depth the historical, educational, political, economic, industrial and aesthetic aspects of the subject explores the saga of Czech glass during the most harrowing decades of the post-war period. The book offers as well a glimpse of the human turmoil that beset so many artists as they navigated the shoals of a totalitarian bureaucracy and a tradition-bound, government-controlled industry.
